The PCE (Press Cartoon Europe) is an initiative of PCB (Press Cartoon Belgium) in association with the International Cartoon Festival of Knokke-Heist (Belgium). This new award is to be presented annually for the best cartoons published in any European Union member state.
The competition is open to all press cartoonists who publish in any newspaper or magazine available to the general public in any EU member state. Participation is free of charge.
Cartoonists who wish to compete in the PCE are invited to send three of their best cartoons published in the current year to evi@presscartoon.com before January 1st of the next year. Requests for more information can be sent to the same address.
The PCE grand prize carries a cash prize of 8,000 euro and a bronze statue designed by the Belgian illustrator Ever Meulen.
The award ceremony is held in the seaside resort of Knokke-Heist in June, at the opening of the yearly International Cartoon Festival. All nominated cartoons will be exhibited at the Festival, and will also appear in the multilingual annual catalogue.
Le PCE (Press Cartoon Europe) est une initiative du PCB (Press Cartoon Belgium) en collaboration avec le Festival International du Cartoon à Knokke-Heist (Belgique). Ce prix annuel récompense les meilleurs dessins de presse parus dans un des pays membres de l’Union Européenne.
La participation au PCE est gratuite pour tous les dessinateurs qui publient dans un quotidien ou périodique accessible au grand public.
Les dessinateurs désireux de participer au PCE sont invités à faire parvenir avant le 1 janvier de l’année suivante, trois dessins de leur choix parus au cours de l’année courante à evi@presscartoon.com, auprès de qui ils peuvent obtenir toute information désirée.
Le prix est doté d’un montant de 8.000 euros en espèces et d’un trophée de bronze créé par l’artiste belge Ever Meulen.
La remise du prix a lieu en juin à Knokke-Heist, lors de l’ouverture du Festival International du Cartoon et du vernissage de l’exposition des dessins nominés du PCE 2009. Ces dessins sont également publiés dans un annuaire multilingue.
De PCE (Press Cartoon Europe), is een initiatief van de PCB (Press Cartoon Belgium) in samenwerking met het Internationaal Cartoonfestival van Knokke-Heist (België). Het gaat om een jaarlijkse prijs voor de beste cartoons gepubliceerd in om het even welke lidstaat van de Europese Unie.
Deelname aan de PCE is gratis voor alle cartoonisten die tekenen in een in de EU verschijnend dagblad of tijdschrift dat toegankelijk is voor het grote publiek.
Deelnemende cartoonisten kunnen vóór 1 januari vann het volgend jaar drie in de loop van het lopend jaar gepubliceerde cartoons insturen naar evi@presscartoon.com, bij wie ze meer informatie kunnen opvragen.
De eerste prijs is 8.000 euro waard, uitbetaald in contanten, plus een bronzen beeldje ontworpen door de Belgische grafische kunstenaar Ever Meulen.
De prijsuitreiking vindt plaats in juni in Knokke-Heist, bij de opening van het jaarlijks Internationaal Cartoonfestival en de vernissage van de tentoonstelling van alle voor de prijs genomineerde cartoons. Die cartoons worden ook gebundeld in een meertalig jaarboek.
